PIANO WARS!!!!!!!!!!
« on: December 16, 2004, 09:22:55 am »
I have recently been pwning Sonic's soundtrack and learning several music pieces BY EAR from various Sonic games.  Here are the ones I have learned so far:

Sonic 1 Intro
Green Hill
Star Light
Sonic 2 Boss Theme
Metal Harbour

I'm trying to get the Sonic 1 boss theme, but I need the full music file.

Anyone else learned anything on the piano from Sonic?
Me: Do you find it odd that CF's top two loves rank last in his Bouncy rankings? x_x
mike89: yes. yes i do.
mike89: but then i find CF odd.
Me: so do I.

The odds of meeting a TSCer randomly on the street, at any given time anywhere in the world, is approximately 15,785,611 to 1 ... and growing.

Learn:

Queen:Bohemian Rhapsody
Evanescence-My Immortal

Two of the very few times I have ever appreciated a piano >_>
Did you not think I had a mind?

I used to be able to do Star Light on an electric keyboard that had 20 different instrument sounds.  I switched back and forth between the "Harpsichord" and "Flute" sounds at various points back then, and it was a challenge to reach over to those buttons without delaying the continuation of the song.

Nowadays I sound out things like MAX 300 on a DDR pad.  7 stepcharts fully memorized, working on 9...does that count?

If you have the money and the desire, I highly recommend keyboard + midi interface + mixing software. It'll cost quite a bit to get a setup that isn't crappy, though - $200-300+ for a decent keyboard, about $30 for a 1-1 midi interface, and an insane amount of money for the software and samples, which really depends on how obsessed you are. I've spent about $400 on my whole setup so far.

I use a grand piano for my songs.

And I can also play Popcorn and Ride of the Valkyries using my lower jaw (SS101 taught me how to "play the cheek", as he calls it, and I used the system to arrange the song).
